HTM Careers

Wright Resort

Graduates of the program enter the hospitality and tourism industry working in such areas as convention and visitors' bureaus, travel and hotel sales and marketing, restaurant or institutional food service management, catering and banquet coordination, and state or national park management, among many other entry-level management options.

Hospitality and tourism is the second-largest industry in Oregon and the largest in the world. The employment outlook for the industry is excellent. There's strong demand for managers with a formal education in hospitality and tourism management. Chemeketa's Hospitality and Tourism Management program can prepare you for direct entry into the industry. The program also provides continuing education for industry professionals. Read on to find out more about Chemeketa's Hospitality and Tourism Management program.

Tourism is a $7.0 billion industry for Oregon and directly employs over 88,000 Oregonians. The broader hospitality industry, to which tourism is intricately linked, is even billions of dollars larger and employs tens of thousands of additional Oregonians. You will be limited only by your desire, interest, ability, training, and commitment.

Fine Dining

Nationally, employment needs are expected to grow rapidly as population growth, higher incomes, and increased leisure time allow the public to travel, dine out and enjoy other leisure-time activities more frequently.

Industry professionals may select courses to meet specific educational goals, or can work toward a degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management. Professionals prefer the online offerings that meet their varying schedules.

The Hospitality and Tourism Management program is coordinated with high schools, so that students may begin working toward an Associate of Applied Science degree and possibly earn college credits in high school. High school students may find out whether their school offers this option by checking with their career-counseling department.
